You know what the great thing is about this job?

The Celtic fanbase is so diverse and so passionate about the club that they all have very different opinions and views on all aspects of Celtic life.

Whether it’s discussing players, manager structure, formations, hell, even the political landscape around us, every opinion counts and every opinion creates debate.

That is why I love this job.

Especially when it comes to transfer stories.

Podcaster, JP Mason was discussing the recent rumours surrounding the club’s apparent pursuit of Canadian Alastair Johnston, when he floated this interesting theory.

Speaking on the award-winning A Celtic State of Mind, Mason said, “So you’re thinking that deal [Alistair Johnston] is probably already done. That’s pre-World Cup.

“So I’m thinking whatever is happening with Jurnanovic, it is probably already done and a fee probably has been put in place.

“So how well or not he does at the World Cup will probably not really impact his fee.

“I just got thinking about this as a result of our link with Johnston. Because you would think that deal is done.

“And even if he has a ten out of ten World Cup and Canada qualify from their group, it won’t make an impact on the fee because a fee will already be agreed.

“The Juranovic fee has probably already been agreed with somebody whether it’s a Premier League team from down south or whether it is Spain.”

Now I kind of get where he is coming from but I don’t seriously think that Celtic would do a deal for Juranovic before the World Cup.

For two reasons.

The Croatian is a stage in his career where we are guaranteed at least £10m for him in my opinion. A very experienced international with Champions League games under his belt and a proven winner with a Polish Championship, A Scottish League Cup and a Scottish title to his name, it would be folly of the board to agree any kind of fee prior to the exposure he will get in the World Cup.

And the second reason is the board will be well aware that a successful World Cup will also a few extra million to a potential transfer fee.

So whilst I see where JP is coming from, I can’t see the Juranovic deal being ‘done’ yet.

Who am I? How good is your Celtic player knowledge?
