How long have we all wanted to know about what was said between Neil Lennon and Ally McCoist after that infamous Glasgow Derby Shame Game,

The game that kicked off the politicians to bring in the much detested OBAFA to try and control sectarian behaviour in Glasgow, has always been spoken about and every fan has always wondered what exactly was said between McCoist and Lennon?

It was all very amicable, hands were shook but then words were spoken and all hell broke loose.

Speaking to Sky Sports not long after the incident, Ally McCoist didn’t reveal what was said, he did say on the show that, “He wasn’t too keen on those sweet nothings but we definitely kissed and made up.

“What everybody should know is that within two minutes we were sitting in his office having a bottle of beer which was the most important thing.”

But what people didn’t know was what sparked the touchline stramash?

Former Celtic coach, Alan Thompson has revealed all in his new book as he recalls first hand what went on in that thirty second flashpoint.

As serialised in The Sun, Thompson went on, “When the final whistle blew, and we had won the game, all the staff went over to shake hands with the opposing team as you do, and Lenny went to shake Coisty’s hand.

“I was stood so close that I clearly heard Ally tell Lenny, ‘And don’t you be speaking to my F’n players like that’, only for Lenny to tell him, ‘They’re not your F’n players, they’re Walter’s.

“It’s never been disclosed what was actually said in over a decade now — but I’m telling you that was the spark that lit the fire and Hell was hot.”

Such a simple turn of events that caused major political fallout and the criminalisation of football fans in one fell swoop.
