Much has been made of the rebuild required at Celtic Park to make an attempt at wrestling the title back from our rivals across the water.

With next seasons champions allowed automatic entry into the Champions League group stages, this is without doubt the most important title in recent history in terms of financial rewards.

Pundit, Alan Hutton, has reacted to new Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou’s assertion that he wants to be involved with the academy set up and that he is a believer of promoting home grown talents to the Celtic first team.

Speaking to The Football Insider, Hutton said, “That’s great for a long-term plan, that’s brilliant because that’s what your academy is there for. It’s there to bring talent through into the first team. So yes, of course that ticks a lot of boxes.

“The problem with that is you’ve just been beat comfortably in the league last year. Celtic  had a really poor season and the fans want that turnaround now, not in three, four years’ time.

Should Leigh Griffiths be given another chance at Celtic?

“They don’t want to wait for Rangers to win three, four titles in row, Scottish Cups, League Cups, with Celtic just lagging behind in second place. They want to win now, from the start of the season.

“That’s the problem he’s got. If he’s got a four or five-year plan of bringing through youth, that’s brilliant news. It’s exactly what you want to hear, especially as a youth player.”

This can only be great news for young Hoops star Karamoko Dembele as he has seen his appearances for the first team extremely limited since making his home debut against Hearts two years ago.

With Celtic losing a raft of youth talent to clubs in England and abroad to due lack of opportunities, it seems Postecoglou is determined to focus on youth as the building blocks to success and surely this could only be good news for youngsters like Dembele, Welsh and Connell?
