As Celtic made a stumbling start to their league campaign with a 2-1 loss to Hearst at Tynecastle last night, the magnitude of the job ahead of Ange Postecoglou may have hit home hard for the big Aussie.

As the new manager enjoys a stay of executive of any blame for the opening three games of the new season, it won’t be long until the pressure starts to build unless results turn, and turn quickly.

It’s not hard to see what Postecoglou is trying to achieve with this Celtic team as the stats from last nights game proved.

Over 73% possession and 19 shots on targets show the type of football Postecoglou is bringing to Celtic but the lack of cutting edge in the final third has once again let Celtic down. Well, that and poor defensive mistakes, but you catch my drift.

Whilst the topic of conversation is mainly on player recruitment, it does seems as though Ange needs to think about bringing in his own people as his latest dig at lack of sports science shows just how much the professional set up at Paradise has fallen since Brendan Rodgers left.

One man that knows Postecoglou well and has bee an advocate for the Celtic gaffer since he took over at Celtic Park is Craig Moore.

The former Rangers defender was asked on The Go Radio Football Show by host Paul Cooney if he was offered the job of Sporting Director by Celtic, would he accept? His reply was very interesting,  “Like I said I’m looking through my junk folder to see whether some offers come through.

“Sporting Director at such a big club it would be something that would be of REAL interest.  Whether that  would it be a yes or no, it’s just a random question isn’t it? “

“I’ll probably get slaughtered both by the time I get off this. Celtic supporters will slaughter me and Rangers supporters will as well.

“Happy days.  I wouldn’t be the first player player or coach or whatever to make the cross over.”

There is no doubt the structure behind the scenes at Celtic Park need a massive overhaul but what Ange needs and needs quickly is support as this Celtic board are hanging him out to dry.

Whether the fans would take to Moore being offered a position at Paradise is another question but if it offers Postecoglou the support he so badly needs, can the fans really complain?
