My good friend over at The Celtic Blog, James Forrest, highlighted this article to me this afternoon, and knowing how I used to run polls inside my articles to gauge opinion on the subject matter, he has asked me to run a REAL poll amongst REAL Celtic fans to get the REAL answer regarding the Hoops support for their gaffer Ange Postecoglou.

Here’s the headline, “Celtic survey questions answered as Parkhead fans remind Ange Postecoglou not all blame can be pinned on the board.” caveated with ,”Supporters up and down the country have had their say on how they reckon the season will pan out.”.

Now remember that one. Supporters up and down the country, because that is very important.

Cutting to the chase, the Record wrote a piece claiming that after surveying the Celtic support, if the season didn’t end well (or some sorts) then the Celtic support would not fully blame the board. It’s written here if you want to have a look at it.

As James stated in his article about the survey that simply is not true. I won’t get into the semantics of it as James covers it brilliantly in his piece but my main concern was the size of this survey.

Now you would think that if you claimed to get the opinion of the Celtic support, you would think, ‘My God, they must have been running this poll for weeks.’ which would set another alarm bell ringing because if they had then that would mean that they have been actively targeting our manager.

But they didn’t.

Ok, so they must have at least got thousands of participants to give their views before going to print with such a subject? Of course the didn’t.

Their ‘sample’ was 702 people. And as we all know with online surveys, absolutely anyone can access them.

But 702 people and they claim it warns Ange about the mood of the fans?

Let me give you an example of how it should be done.

I ran a poll back in June asking if Ange Postecoglou was the man for the Celtic job. That poll can be seen here. What you will also see is the amount of participants in the poll was 8223 with 63% saying he was.

Article worthy. Because a large sample size although will not be 100% representative of the Celtic support, does give you a serious indication that the poll is fairly accurate as it is aimed at Celtic fans, accessing a Celtic site.

So lets have a  REAL survey here people.

And the question is simple:

If Celtic fail to win the title this season. Who is to blame?
