The Green Brigade have unveiled a display prior to the Celtic vs Hamilton clash that says “Boyata – Not Fit To Wear The Jersey”.

It comes after the Belgian defender was selected for today’s encounter by manager Brendan Rodgers.

With both Jozo Simunovic and Jack Hendry injured for the Scottish Premiership encounter against Accies, the manager was almost forced into the selection of Boyata, but it wasn’t a decision that went down particularly well with supporters.

The Green Brigade appear to be particularly irked by the recent goings on involving the defender which has seen him sit out of a number of crucial matches with a mysterious self-declared injury after the club rejected a transfer offer from Fulham.

So far during the match the response to Boyata seems mixed with some jeers, some support and the majority of the crowd not really seeming to care about the entire saga.

Can he produce the kind of performance that gets fans back on side? Or is his Celtic career as good as over?

What are your thoughts on Boyata’s selection and today’s Green Brigade banner? Share your thoughts in the comments below…

  • Presumably, Boyata’s inclusion is a marketing stunt by Celtic. They have to show that he is fit to play if they want to attract suitors before the window slams shut.

The real question is what the heck are they doing about getting in at least one, preferably two, decent centre backs – not some SPL level performer. The biscuit tin must be prised open and at least 8/9 million put on the table for one decent defender.

  • I can see quite clearly why the GB presented that banner re Boyata. If any Celtic supporter cannot see why then forgive me, they are blind. He declared himself unfit. Was it 3 times. The manager felt & basically said publically he thought Boyata was fit. He did being the word “fraud” into the argument. Not directly aimed at Boyata, but right bang in the middle of this fiasco. Who do you think raised that in Brendan’s comment. He scored today. Brilliant, well done. But he has been a let down for us, the supporters & the team. Looking for the hand up on the step to the gravy train rhat is the EPL. Same as Armstrong, fannying around all last close season. It was a dot on the card he was leaving. Fuck his haircut. Boyata has been mercenary. Anyone who says different is a wee bit thick. Sorry but you are. I agree with the GB banner. 100%.
