The major season ticket issue that has the Celtic fans talking

This has been a bit of a bug bare of mine for a wee bit now.

I don’t have a season ticket. Family commitments mean that I cannot always get to the games but I do like to take in the occasional match and take my two daughters with me.

They are both hooked on Celtic.

The minute they walked out on the North Stand and saw the crowd and the stadium that was it for them.

And they keep pestering me to take them again.

Which I did just a few weeks ago to the St Mirren game where we won 4-0.

But, that was after spending weeks trying to get tickets for other fixtures but they were always sold out.

And even when we did get to the St Mirren match, it was also billed as sold out but there were a lot of noticeable empty seats.

Which has sparked this debate:

Now, I am not having a go at the guys who cannot make the games every week. I think it’s admirable that people still pay their money knowing full well that they cannot commit to every game and they all deserve a huge pat on the back for that.

But surely there must be a way where we can sort out a system where if season ticket holders cannot make it, other fans can take up their seats for a nominal fee?

And the extra match day revenue that would bring in would benefit the club as well.

It just makes solid sense.

Over to you Celtic.

Why a nominal fee? Surely fee should be the same as usual?

    • Paddy Sinat says:

Agreed, probably not the correct term but there is a revenue stream there the club aren’t taking advantage of

Yes but how do you know when a supporter won’t make game I know Sunday kick off some Irish supporters can’t make it so how stop sitting in a seat and the season book holder turns up

Man Utd have a scheme where a season ticket holder cannot make the game they are allowed to sell the ticket for face value. Why can’t we??

I’m a season ticket holder and due to work and family commitments probably miss 4 or 5 home games a season. It would be nice to let families like yours be able to purchase the tickets. I have one issue with your article ” nominal fee”. Tickets would need to be sold at face value, and I would suggest a small fee discounted from my next purchase from the club, small admin fee for the club, and remaining balance to the Celtic Foundation. Everyone involved then gets something positive. Hope your kids enjoy every time they get to go, my now 27 year son still sits beside me.

Yeah, nominal fee probably wasn’t the correct term, but my point still stands mate. Great suggestion btw

I was a regular when I was younger, and you did not need a season ticket as 90% of the time you could pay at the gate – when the stadium was rebuilt my life and commitments had changed so there was no point in getting a season ticket – but I also see no point in now paying to go on a waiting list which is probably about 10k long…there is clearly an audience who would attend games if the capacity was available and that waiting list has been there for quite sometime so why no movement whatsoever on expanding the capacity of the stadium?
