The Celtic fans love him. They want him signed now even although he has a loan deal, with a clause to buy, at the end of the season.

The fee is widely agreed to be around the £6m mark and it seems, the club may be willing to sign Jota sooner rather than later.

That’s the view of Mark Guidi as he opens up and urges Celtic to get the deal done.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Guidi says getting the Portuguese winger would a real statement of intent and what he said regarding the possibility of the move is striking, “The reading of it would be that Celtic know the fee that they need to get to with Benfica. So that’s pretty agreed.

“It’s like any other circumstance,  you can agree the fee with the club but that doesn’t mean to say you can force a player to sign.

“There’s still personal terms involved.

“You would imagine that the vibes are a good. You would imagine if you were Celtic and you were Ange Postecoglou, what a great message to send out on the 1st January.

“Jota has signed.

“What a great message to send out right at the start of the window.

“No messing about. Go and get it done.

“Maybe there was a way of doing it quicker because he’s already at the club albeit on a loan.”

Jota, himself, was rather coy about sealing a permanent move when asked about it at his acepteance of the SPFL Player of the Month presentation when he said [BBC Sport] , “I never think in the future, I think in the present.

“I wake up every day thinking: ‘Ok, today I want to be better at this, this and this.’

“That’s what I’m looking for, I’m not thinking about what’s going to happen next week, next month or next year .

“Just let me enjoy my football and be happy.”

Jota is certainly the brightest talent we have seen at Celtic Park and was clearly born to play at Paradise.

Let’s hope the board can see that and do whatever it takes to get this deal over the line.
