“There will be no more departures” – Lennon

|

After the shock transfer news of Jeremie Frimpong being subject to an £11m shock move to the Bundesliga, Celtic manager, Neil Lennon, said he doesn’t expect anymore players to leave during the January transfer window.

When asked if he had kept players who did not want to there last summer, the Parkhead gaffer said, “That’s a hypothetical question. We tried to keep all our best players here to make a foray for another league title and to have another strong season.

“It’s always difficult when players are agitating but we try to settle them down. I don’t think anybody else will be leaving in the window. You can look at it in many different ways but we were happy with keeping the squad intact.”

There have been numerous players been linked with a move away in this window, the most recent being Odsonne Edouard to West Ham Utd, so the news that Frimpong was on his way out shocked the Celtic support.

With El Hamed looking to move on as well, things could get from bad to worse for the Paradise faithful.

There will be a major rebuilding of the team required in the summer and any money raised by player sales in this window will hopefully be made available to the manager at the end of the season.
