There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight at the moment on the Celtic managerial hunt and a top reporter has warned that it seems as though the Celtic board have no idea who or what they want in terms of manager or where they are going in terms of the direction of the club.

Speaking on their weekly Touchline Talk podcast, reporters Pete O’Rourke and Dean Jones discussed the names linked to the job but gave the Celtic fans a message they will not want to hear as Jones warned, “How high can their ambition be? What’s the ceiling here? Because we’ve already ruled out Mourinho in the last 10 minutes. Can’t see that ever happening.”

“So Eddie Howe, he’s there if they want him, but I think he’s just keeping an eye on what English jobs might crop up. I think he’s made been made aware that there might be a couple of openings coming for him and it might be better suited, but I do still think he’s in the frame at Celtic potentially. Roy Keane that just never goes away.

Do you think Eddie Howe will become the Celtic manager?

YES

NO

“I’ve got to be honest with you, every time, every week I make calls on this and every time that message slightly changes and they just don’t seem to know what they want. It’s so important to decide what is the identity of your setup going to be from here? There’s changes all over the place at the top level of Celtic happening right now.

“It needs to be sorted out. They need to decide what their philosophy is on the pitch and off the pitch, very very quickly because the longer it goes on, the less chance they’ve got of actually catching Rangers next season.”

O’Rourke and Jones are well respected journalists in their field and the fact that Celtic are still searching for their manager seven weeks after Neil Lennon left the job with no clue where they are at should be alarm bells to the Celtic support.

The only saving grace is the Dom McKay started his role earlier than planned so hopefully the wheels are in motion or at least pointing in the right direction of where the club wants to go.
