“They must spend it wisely” – Ex Defender on Frimpong transfer bounty

|

Former Celtic defender, Gary Caldwell, has said that the money Celtic received from the Jeremie Frimpong transfer deal must be reinvested back into the squad if the Hoops have any ambition to wrestle the title back from their Glasgow rivals next season.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Caldwell said, “It’s something you know that they’ve done well they’ve, they’ve sold players on for a lot of a profit and it’s now about how they use that profit. They have to spend wisely and this transfer window and in the summer transfer window to put the squad back together that can challenge again next season and go on to win trophies.

“I think they need to look at the club as a whole and see you know where they are.  The run they’ve been on is historic.  They have won four trebles in a row which is just incredible in any league in any part of the world. So you have to congratulate them for that.

“I think  they probably have to look in the next few months and take stock as a football club and try and build again within the football club and look at the squad, where the weaknesses lie, assess why the gap is so big between themselves and Rangers, and do something about that and come back stronger from it and I’m sure they will.”
