This Isn’t The Time For The Return Of Leaks- Opinion

In a determined effort to be positive, I am writing this an hour before kick off but will not publish until the game is over. Sitting at home this morning reading the news sites I come across an article that has left me in a state of, well how can I put it. You know when you expect something to happen, then it happens and you are stunned into a silent rage? Well that’s how I’m feeling this morning.

Regular columnist for the Daily Mail Stephen McGowan has been eerily quiet in the last year about us. No longer seemingly being in the know, McGowan no longer seemed to have the inside scoop of the goings on a Parkhead… Until now.

Today McGowan has written about the wages of 3 of our defenders with such confidence, does he have an inside source at our club or are players agents at play here? In his Daily Mail article today, McGowan said…

When he (Juranovic) arrived from Legia Warsaw in August 2021 the right-back agreed to sign for £10k a week until 2026.

In a throwback to the days of Cadete,  Di Canio and Van Hooijdonk, there was a verbal undertaking to review his salary after a year or so if he did well.

Celtic kept their end of the bargain before the World Cup. The offer they made fell short of the player’s expectations. Juranovic sees defensive team-mates Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers earning well over twice the sum he makes.

Since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, the leaks to the media has seemed to vanish into the night. Why has this now looking like it may have returned?

This nonsense, no, this poison was the biggest disruption to our trophy winning machine under Brendon Rogers if it starts again under Ange we could undermine a project that could see us reach European heights not seen for a generation.

The purpose of the article was clear with McGowan’s final comment.

No harm to Alistair Johnston, a strong performer for Canada in Qatar. But is he really an upgrade on the man he’s replacing?

Or a young player willing to settle for the kind of money Josip Juranovic won’t accept after marking Vinicius Junior out of a World Cup quarter-final?

If this information has come from the club, I would implore them to leave the football to the man at the top. We trust in Ange, we don’t trust this nonsense. Not again please.

Celtic hold the record for most Scottish Cup Final wins. Who scored the winners in these TEN finals?
