Celtic have progressed into the quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup after a 3-1 victory over Partick Thistle at Firhill this afternoon.

Getting ahead in the match thanks to Leigh Griffiths, it was a laboured performance for much of the match from that point on, with Partick Thistle even equalising in the second half.

Brendan Rodgers’ men found their fighting spirit though and inspired by Cristian Gamboa forced themselves in front again with goals from Moussa Dembele and Tom Rogic.

Despite the win, there were easy criticisms to make, with the defence again being called into question after conceding another avoidable goal.

Jack Hendry found himself caught in possession a couple of times and also failed to block Andrea Mbuyi-Mutombo’s equalising effort on goal with any sort of firm tackle.

Conceding that sort of effort against a Scottish Championship side again raises serious issues going forward and many have now had enough of Hendry himself.
