Celtic fans can’t see a future for Mikael Lustig at the club after today’s performance against Rangers.
The right-back had a day to forget at Ibrox, failing to effectively deal with the threats on our right flank, partially contributing to losing a goal and then having to be substituted at half-time with an apparent injury.
For many it was another sign that he may be ‘done’ at this level and may have to go this summer.
His contract expires at the end of the season and there has been no word on whether he will be signing a new deal at the Hoops.
The Swedish international remains a popular figure personality wise, that will likely always be the case, but surely we should be relying upon a better calibre of defender moving forward?
Jeremy Toljan, his substitute replacement, wasn’t much better today either and it’s a position that needs serious focus in the upcoming transfer window.
These fans took to Twitter during and after the match to share their thoughts on the 32-year-old…

Today reminded me why the brilliant servant Lustig needs replaced. Caught on the ball in first 90 seconds, leads to the free kick and goal. That is the recurring mistake that he has in his game these days. Shame but players can’t go on indefinitely.

Finger out Celtic. Lustig at fault for the free kick that led to the goal he’s a liability and needs to go. Lucky to still be in it at 1-0. Still time to win the game tho. Up the Celts 🍀🍀🍀🍀

Let's not forget that Lustig losing the ball to Kent? in the 2nd minute when all he had to do was clear it, lead to the free kick that they scored from.
Simple, simple stuff done wrong.
Not much between the teams, which is a disgrace for us and a compliment for Sevco.— Willie Keane (@WillieKeane) May 12, 2019
