It was a moment of beauty.

When Anthony Ralston soared to nod that 97th minute winner past Ross County ‘keeper, Maynard-Brewer, Dingwall was a sea of emotion as the Celtic fans knew that the league title was still firmly in their grasp.

Even on social media, there was widespread joy amongst the Celtic fans and, to be fair, some media men pundits (although joy may be a stretch for them. Let’s call it appreciation).

But BBC reporter, Tom English, had a rather strange take on the finale.

Rather than congratulate the team on a hard fought draw when down to ten men, English took to twitter to make a really bizarre summation of last nights events:

Now as everyone knows that reads my blog, I listen to all sorts of football podcasts, including Tom’s very own BBC Sportsound and all season he has been telling us that the Celtic boss needs to strengthen in the January window.

All season he has lamented the fact that Celtic are weak in key areas. In fact, I have written many times about the BBC journalists take on Celtic’s squad and transfer business so this reaction to a last gasp winner really is quite odd.

No congratulations. No recognition of the fact that Celtic are still winning with no recognised strikers in the team. And certainly no mention of the fact that the win was sealed with making only two subs in the match with one of those being the young Owen Moffat.

The win keeps Celtic on the coat tails of their rivals and in good form leading up to this Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup Final against Hibs.

Utterly shocking fans invading the pitch after their team score a goal very glad Police scotland are to investigate should not be to difficult to identify those who took part as Ross County dont have a very big support and their singing section located behind the home goal consists of only about a hundred supporters and the ten per cent or so who invaded the pitch should be picked out quite easily.!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Jim. thanks for reading. But please. Behave yourself. It’s emotion. A massive victory for the team and the fans who travelled for hours to get there got over excited. Wanting the police to get involved is just silly now.

Jim sounds like a silly billy does he not !!

  • Ross Mackay says:

If ever a pitch invasion can be justified its when your team wins with the last kick of the ball
