Just when you think the rumours have stopped and the stage is set. Eddie Howe to Celtic is the worst kept secret in the history of Scottish football. The announcement is expected soon and then the work can begin on the Paradise rebuild needed to wrestle the title back from the blue side of Glasgow.

Well, think again. Popular and respected football podcasters The Transfer Window podcast  have revealed that all may not be as we thought with the Howe ‘deal’ and that the young English manager’s representatives are certainly keen on keeping Howe’s options open.

With the news that Roy Hodgson is set to retire form Crystal Palace at the end of the season. Duncan Castles was speaking on the podcast when he made this  stunning revelation, “My understanding is that Eddie Howe, at least his representatives,  are keen on speaking to Crystal Palace and weighing that opportunity up against the one he has been offered at Celtic, allowing him to remain in the Premier League and remain living in the South of England.”

It has long been rumoured that this could be the case amongst pundits and reporters but with more recent noises coming from the media, it seemed that Celtic announcing Howe was simply not a case of if, but when.

Is Kieran Tierney too good for Arsenal?

NO

Co host Ian McGarry then moved the conversation onto Frank Lampard and the Crystal Palace job. Admitting that he has known Lampard for over 20 years, McGarry made this interesting claim, “That’s not to say he (Frank Lampard) is not open to an interesting offer. There certainly is interest from Celtic, ironically enough when you consider Eddie Howe as well.

“But I don’t think that he is a position where you’re necessarily going to a project that he doesn’t seem that he’s got a great chance of making progress or succeeding and at this moment in time.”

So what is it to be? Who can be believed? There are so many contrasting stories surrounding the Celtic manager circus, no one can tell the headline act from the clown show. Lets hope for Celtic’s sake, it is not the latter.
