Treble gone. Europe Gone. Season almost gone. Lennon should be gone

“It’s all about the results”. “Performances don’t matter”. “Playing badly and winning is the mark of champions”.  That was the the chat amongst Celtic fans at the beginning of the season when the team was scraping results against St Johnstone, Dundee Utd and St Mirren. So what is it now? A blip? A bad run of form? Or low confidence in the team?

Right now the team can’t string a couple of passes together never mind wins.  Perfomances have been woeful and unfortunaltely the good luck of scraping those last gasp wins have dried up. Now all we are left with is the same tired excuses. The same sound bites from a manager that has ran out of ideas.

This is the best squad in the league by a country mile. We are being turned over in Europe at home and now we are being run ragged domestically by teams that we should be turning over easily.  Today’s result is Neil Lennon’s Inverness Caley moment.  Being dumped out the League Cup by Ross County at home is the last straw. There are no excuses.

What will it take before the power brokers sit up and take stock of what is happening at this club? When will their be eyes opened to what we can see?  Will it be when the league is gone they will act?  It’s not even December and we are out of the Champions League, Europa League and now the BetFred Cup, and all at home. Say it slowly. Knocked out of three competitions, at home.  If that is not a case for Lennon to lose his job then I don’t know what it.

The board not sacking Lennon after the European exits alone is showing faith in the manager. To not sack him after being eliminated from the League Cup is negligence.
