According to the Express, Brendan Rodgers wants to sign Kieran Tierney from Celtic if Ben Chilwell leaves his current club Leicester City.

The Foxes left-back has emerged as the main man at the back on that side for England and it makes sense that there might be concern from the club that he could leave.

Similarly, we have our own worries that our left-sided defender could move on but I would have thought moving from Leicester is easier than leaving our club for an improved chance of success.

However, we cannot overlook the spending power even mid-table Premier League sides have and if Chilwell goes we might have to be braced for a big bid for KT.

I do think, though, that if Tierney is to leave the club it won’t be this summer anyway and, for that matter, he’d surely only leave for one of the biggest clubs in Europe that can challenge for the Champions League for example.

Forget Leicester for now, Kieran.

  • Given the circumstances of Rodger’s abandonment of Celtic I think if KT was ever to leave Paradise it wouldn’t be to play for Rodgers.
