Two Rodgers signings set to exit Celtic this month, just a year after arriving

|

Celtic defenders Jack Hendry and Marvin Compper are set to leave the club this month, just a year after initially arriving at the club, according to The Daily Mail.

Hendry was signed for £1.5m from Dundee in the last January transfer window but has failed to impress supporters with a series of poor defensive performances. Now he is set to leave on loan, with Sunderland and Portsmouth likely destinations according to The Mail.

The paper also report that flop signing Marvin Compper is lined up for an exit having played just one competitive appearance for the club since signing from RB Leipzig last year.

To hear that either are on the brink of an exit is not surprising and in fact could be seen as good news, with the club clearly intent on bringing new defensive signings to the club to compete for first-team places.

With interest also expected in Dedryck Boyata, we could be seeing an entirely new defensive partnership formed in the first-team by the end of January.

Given the performance at Ibrox at the weekend, some would argue that is not a bad thing.

This is a huge January transfer window for the club and outgoing deals could prove to be as important as incoming transfers, with the wage bill already pretty massive.

Can Peter Lawwell, Brendan Rodgers and the recruitment team prove to fans that we can be effective after the shambles in the summer?
