UCL winner opens door to shock arrival at Celtic

|

Former Manchester City and Barcelona star Yaya Toure has refused to rule out a sensational move to Celtic this January, revealing he could open talks with Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers.

The modern football legend, who has won major trophies in Spain and England as well the UEFA Champions League, is without a club after leaving Greek outfit Olympiacos in December.

The sibling connection with Celtic coach Kolo Toure has sparked speculation he could be on the way to Celtic Park to see out the rest of his career, and it’s clearly something that interests him on some level, speaking this week.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said:

Kolo is asking! Celtic is a great team but let me speak with Brendan, we will see. Maybe Kolo is arranging something for me but let’s see.

To be honest I’ve been playing in the Premier League, it’s the league where for me it’s been the most enjoyable. But we never know, maybe I could end up in Scotland or maybe in England, or maybe in France. I want the choice to enjoy maybe one more year at a high level.

Celtic and the Scottish Premiership could be the ideal combination of quality level and prestige that the 35-year-old is looking for as a final chapter to an extraordinarily successful life in football.

He may not be quite the player he once was but his experience and ability would likely still shine through at the Hoops, especially if the club decide to cash in on Porto target Olivier Ntcham.

Can Kolo and the recruitment team at Celtic convince him his future lies in Glasgow?
