Celtic fans are still smarting over the decision to sell Erik Sviatchenko last year.
Brendan Rodgers, then boss at Celtic Park, made the decision to loan the player out to old club FC Midtjylland in January 2018, before the move was made permanent during last summer’s transfer window.
Replacing him with flop signings Marvin Compper and Jack Hendry, many continue to be baffled by the decision, feeling the Danish international is a much better choice to compete for defensive positions in the Hoops first-team.
Sviatchenko continues to make his feelings for Celtic clear on social media, just this week reminiscing on Twitter about his goal against Rangers at Hampden in 2016, calling it “one of my biggest moments in my career so far.”
Supporters in response have been quick to let him know he is badly missed in Glasgow, with many even suggesting the player should return to the club one day…
Fantastic, and what a joyous jump that was. You were let go far to soon from the club. I’m thinking you were too intelligent for Rodgers HH☘️

Letting Sviatchenko go and bringing in Hendry and Compper was unbelievable

I’ve argued that with people on here all season. Utter madness. Rodgers hung him out to dry when we lost a bad goal at Ibrox in Dec 16 and yet backed Boyata when he made bigger blunder in March 18.

You should still be here playing alongside Jozo or Kris Ajer next season, Erik. It’s criminal that you were allowed to leave and sign for Midtjylland, I would take you back in a heartbeat.
