Many words, tweets and Instagram posts have been laid out in the last few days to pay tribute to Celtic captain, Scott Brown, since he released his intentions to leave Celtic for the Northern Lights of Aberdeen.

But this next quote, mentioned on the latest episode of A Celtic State of Mind, pretty much sums up what Brown is all about and what he means to Celtic, Co host, Tony Haggerty recalled, “For 10 years he bossed Scottish football.  I was looking through quotes and a cracking quote from the most unlikely source. Eboue Kouassi  said this about Scott Brown, ‘Brendan Rodgers is Celtic boss in name,  Scott Brown is Celtic boss by nature.‘

Will Celtic regret letting Scott Brown go?

YES

YES

NO

NO

“That’s that comes up Scott Brown.  And the moniker that they had yesterday, Captain. Leader. Legend. If you’re gonna get all emotional and about it. Dead Poets Society, I think Scott Brown, in 14 years is the definition of ‘Captain, my captain’ and it leaves a massive void at Celtic.”

“Scott Brown is Celtic boss by nature”.  An outstanding summation of the man that has spent 14 years at a club making Celtic a domestic force to be reckoned with.  Although the quote from Kouassi was fitting and apt, you cannot pay a greater tribute to Brown than this.

He will always be remembered by the Celtic supporters as the greatest captain since Billy McNeill. His trophy haul, his standing within Celtic and his warrior like presence on the pitch will never be matched again. Not in my lifetime.
