Celtic captain Scott Brown is facing a possible suspension, with the SFA compliance officer set to look at a incident involving the midfielder and Hearts player Steven Naismith, according to BBC journalist Jonathan Sutherland.

You may have missed the alleged elbow during Saturday’s match, but it was highlighted in the media following the fixture, which you can see below, and it does appear that action could be taken by the SFA should they consider his arm into the Hearts man to be a deliberate act, although Sky pundit and former referee Dermot Gallagher played down the seriousness of it all.

Should the SFA compliance officer deem retrospective action to be appropriate, it could rule the Hoops veteran out of the upcoming derby against Rangers at Celtic Park on September 2nd, depending on the length of the ban.

Losing Brown right now is the last thing Brendan Rodgers needs, with a lack of excellent options to come in and perform his role in the Celtic side.

The BBC man also reported that the Steven Naismith kick on Jonny Hayes will also be reviewed by the governing body.

The SFA have until 3pm this afternoon to decide whether to take further action on both players.
