Chris Sutton has brilliantly defended Celtic captain Scott Brown on BT Sport this evening, taking former Rangers man Alex Rae to task for his opinions on Sunday’s derby drama.

The former Celtic striker has taken issue with some of the analysis in the wake of incidents in the Scottish Premiership match, believing Steven Gerrard is wrong to suggest that the Hoops are playing ‘the victim card’.

Also saying Alfredo Morelos should not play for Rangers again and calling Andy Halliday a ‘bang average’ player, Sutton certainly didn’t miss with his live television rant, delighting Celtic supporters watching on at home.

Brown hasn’t had many allies in the media of late, so it was great to see the BT Sport man land one on the nose of outspoken critics.

Celtic will be looking to put all the derby drama behind them tonight with the imminent kick-off against St Mirren.

Just a handful of wins away from delivering an eighth title in a row, pundits like Alex Rae will have to get used to Celtic celebrations.
