We are in a battle. For second place. Time to pay Lennon off and move forward

|

Another abysmal performance followed by another shocking result.  The 2-2 draw against Livingston wasn’t even a surprise and for me that’s the surprising thing here.

Devois of ideas, lacking originality and failing to do the basics again for the umpteenth time this season, Neil Lennon and this Celtic team is, for me, genuinely the worst I’ve seen since the Tony Mowbray era.

I’m sure there will be some stato out there who will send me the Mowbray win percentage ratio and compare it to Lennon’s but quite frankly, I do not care.

The last two results I can almost excuse.  Thirteen first team players out, any team would struggle to cope with that, but watching that dross tonight with the likes of Ajer, Christie, McGregor, Turnbull, Moi and Griffiths all in the first team line up, there can be no more excuses anymore.

Peter Lawwell and the board are culpable in allowing this absolute horror show to continue. Even Stephen King could not write a script as frightening as this and believe me, it can get worse. The trigger needs to pulled tonight before the unthinkable happens.

Hibernian are only six points behind us at the moment, and people can criticise me all they want for this, but we are now in a battle for second place.  A battle for second place.  Six months ago you would have got laughed at for such a statement but that is the sorry state we are in at the moment.

I feel I have always been balanced in my views about the Celtic manager. Even after the disastrous European campaign I was willing to give him a chance. The last straw for me was the capitulation at home to Ross County in the BetFred Cup. Lennon should have walked then.  Now he needs to be SHOWN the door.
