Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon certainly won’t be overawed at the atmosphere as Celtic take on the Italian champions at Parkhead later this evening.

“We have great respect for them. They are a very good team” – Antonio Conte

The 35-year-old arrives with vast experience of more than a century of international caps but was still keenly anticipating a contest set to be played in an intimidating atmosphere from a typically pumped up sell-out 60,000 attendance.

“I have played here two or three times with Parma and Juventus, although the last time, 10 years ago, I was on the bench,” Buffon told BBC Sport. “Certainly the crowd can help Celtic but only to a certain point. The opponents can’t get carried away with this and must focus on their own game.”

Meanwhile, Juve’s title-winning manager Antonio Conte stressed his side must be at their absolute best to counter the threat of the Scottish champions: “We have great respect for them,” he added. “We have followed Celtic very closely. They are a very good team. We will have to be very careful tonight.”
