Brendan Rodgers insists Celtic will come back “fresher and better” after the winter break.

The champions were held to a 0-0 draw by arch-rivals Rangers in their final game of the year at Celtic Park.

“There’s no doubt getting to this point of the season, we need that recovery to get that freshness back into the legs again,” Rodgers admitted to BBC Scotland. “We’ll get away, we’ll recover now, we’ll work very, very hard when we get away and we’ll be back for the second part of the season fresher and better.”

Meanwhile, there were also expected to be both further arrivals and departures from the club over the coming month.

“I suspect so,” he added. “There are probably some players that’ll go out, that’ll want to play games and obviously of course January’s a month where you like to strengthen as well so I’m sure there’ll be something done.”

Celtic still currently enjoy an eight-point lead at the top of the table over second-placed Aberdeen.
