I don’t know about you, but I am fed up of pundits going on about John McGinn.

It was, what, three years ago now?

The simple fact is, he was never coming to Celtic because Hibs played hardball and so did Celtic. End of story.

Forget about it and move on.

But it seems to be Hugh Keevins go to scenario whenever he thinks Celtic are about to fail in a proposed move for a player. And he’s not the only pundit to do it either.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Keevins was talking about the proposed permanent move of Jota, when he said, “I think in the case of Jota if Celtic don’t get one a permanent deal, the fans will be profoundly unhappy.

“And we’ll think of it as a John McGinn size boob.

“And in the case of Carter Vickers. I think he’s been solid, solid as a rock at the back for Celtic.

Should Celtic sign Martin Boyle from Hibs?

YES

YES

NO

NO

“Unlike Starfield to blue and hot and cold so I think the fans would like to see Carter Vickers stay.

“He is not the tallest for a central defender. But he makes the most of what he’s got.

“So I have certain sympathy for Celtic because at a time of financial uncertainty,  fans expect 12 million pounds to be shelled out on these two players.

“But at the same time, I think if they get neither the fans would not welcome that.”

If Celtic don’t get Jota, I don’t think it will ultimately come down to the price. Why?

Because Celtic agreed the price when the loan move was signed off. It was PRE arranged. By both clubs.

It will come down to whether the Portuguese winger will want to commit to Glasgow when the crunch time comes.

That’s it.

But we need to let the John McGinn thing go.

Why does anyone pay any attention to the demented ramblings of the adenoidally and intellectually challenged OAP that is Spew Heavins?

McGinn could have held out against Hibs to sign for the Hoops, he signed for Villa off his own back, the one he turned on Celtic, who cares about Gerrard loving players

For the first time in a very long time, the content of your post is very accurate.
    This is better journalism!
The one thing the “glass half empty” people seem to forget is that when it came to the crunch, John McGinn CHOSE Villa over Celtic.
A couple of days before he signed for Villa, Hibs had accepted offers from both clubs and the decision was down to the player, a player who was clearly being influenced by greed as well as the pull of the EPL versus the SPL.
There’s also the fact that McGinn was not going to oust Scott Brown and he knew this.
McGinn would have been a bench warmer for a big part of the season with us.
It turns out that he has taken the Villa opportunity very well.
You also have to consider he is away from the bile and hatred he would have had to contend with in Glasgow. The targetting by the refs here in Scotland whenever he pulled on the hoops.
There’s also the media hatred and anti-Celtic drive which would all have been tough on a young player like McGinn.
Let’s not forget, he knows how this all goes! He lived here his whole life until he moved to Villa.
The fact is it takes a pretty strong person, in the mold of Scott Brown, to get through this hatred and not let it have an effect on your daily life.
John McGinn made the right decision for him.
    It’s history.

I keep hearing this 6million price tag getting thrown about, but was this not just the agreed starting point for negotiations on a deal? If the Celts fail to get him it’s because the price increased or the add on’s got ridiculous.

I personally think the Jota deal will get done.
