The announcement is soon. I promise. Real soon. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but it will be real soon. Right?

As the saga continues, and still no news about Howe, the general consensus amongst the media and I suppose now, the fans, is that after the final league match on Saturday against Hibs at Easter Road, many people expect that to be the day Celtic finally announce Eddie Howe.

With long drawn out speculation on the reasons why the appointment has not been made by now, I think the Celtic supporters are at a stage that even when he does get announced the general feeling won’t be celebration, but relief.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, presenter and reporter Rob McLean was discussing the Howe appointment with the pundits and one Marvin Bartley.

Bartley has been heavily linked as being one of Howe’s key backroom men that will be joining the Englishman to start the Parkhead revolution and when McLean quizzed him about when Howe will be announced, a nervous sounding Bartley tried to laugh of the question.

Is Eddie Howe the man for the Celtic job?

McLean asked his co pundit, “What about your pal Eddie? You not been on the phone?”

To which Bartley nervously replied laughing, “I’ve got many pals called Eddie, I don’t know which one you are on about”.

We at Vital Celtic wrote back on the 6th May about Bartley’s supposed links with Howe and his backroom team and it does seem that it is a story that will not go away.

But whatever the outcome of the final game of the season on Saturday, whether we win, lose or draw, let’s all hope it’s the beginning of the end of the Eddie Howe speculation.
