“What we’re led to believe” – Mark Guidi gives compelling Jota update

Let’s be honest. This is the big one isn’t it?

This is the deal of all deals that if the Celtic board can deliver it, they would be hero’s in the eyes of the Hoops fans.

Was hero’s a bit too far? OK, partly forgiven for their past misdemeanours.

But one thing that cannot be denied is the boards backing of Ange Postecoglou in both transfer windows.

The manager has been allowed to open the chequebook and bring in the players that he believes will help improve the teams chances of winning the title this season.

No on can argue that fact.

But as it stands, the one piece of transfer business the Celtic fans really want is the announcement of Jota on a permanent deal.

But just how close are the club to getting it done? Not far off according to Mark Guidi.

The journalist was speaking on The Go Radio Football Show when he gave this exciting update, “I think Celtic will be comfortable with the Jota scenario because what we’re led to believe they do you have first option.

“It’s there in black and white.

“That was part of the loan agreement deal that Celtic have the first option at an agreed fee.

“The fee is already agreed so there’s really probably no negotiation. The negotiation is really with the player and in terms of his individual package.

“So you know, in terms of financial outlay, if Celtic fancied doing A,B,C just now and leave Jota to the summer because they know Jota is theirs if they want him, provided they can agree personal terms.

“And the player, you would imagine is enjoying himself, enjoying his time at Celtic, life in Glasgow.

“You would imagine he would be open to making the deal permanent as well.

“So I don’t think it’s a rush.

“If Michael Nicholson and Ange Postecoglou need to get players such as Hatate done and O’Riley, then Jota is one they can be a bit more relaxed about because a lot of the ground work is already in place.”

So it seems all fairly relaxed and as Guidi did say, there is just the negotiation with the player to be concluded. But with Jota being a boyhood fan of Benfica, do the Hoops have enough sway to tempt him to Paradise?
