As Ange Postecoglu set out his vision for Celtic yesterday at his first club press conference, the new Celtic gaffer set out how work has been ongoing in the background since he arrived at Paradise.

Vital Celtic reported yesterday that Celtic were in the race to sign young Croatian centre back, Mario Vuskovic for £5m but with interest high in the teenager, the club was looking at a fight with Italian giants Torino to secure his signature.

The report also mentions interest from Feyenoord and Basle, but with this latest development, it seems Celtic have blown these clubs out the water.

Croatian media outlet Slobodna Dalmacija has this morning reported that the Hoops have outmuscled Torino with a financial package worth more than DOUBLE what Toro are prepared to offer.

The media publication has said, “Celtic offer Vušković up to 700,000 euros (brutto) a year of gigs, while in Turin the figure was much lower, about 300,000 euros.

“These are conditions that must also intrigue a young player who knows he is in the window, so now he measures where he would do better. Celtic seem a good destination.”

This seems to have put Celtic in the driving seat and it would seem that the ball is firmly in Vuskovic’s court.

With Celtic financially outmuscling Torino, it really is a statement of intent not only from the manager, but also the Celtic board that they are taking this rebuild seriously and that the manager has the complete backing of a Celtic board, which has, at various points over the last ten years, undermined many Hoops gaffers in the transfer market.
