Neil Lennon’s men created history last night with their 3-1 victory over Rennes securing top spot and more than 10 points for the first time in the Europa League.

Lennon rested Odsonne Edouardย (who has a slight “niggle”) and surprised fans by giving Lewis Morgan the nod upfront, the youngster didn’t disappoint, opening the scoring in the 21st minute and putting the Hoops in command.

Ryan Christie all but secured the three points on the stroke of half-time and Mikey Johnston, making a well-timed return to fitness, took time out from making cups of tea and sealed the victory (if there was any doubt), in the 74th minute.

Celtic are now in the enviable position of being able to play the last Europa League game knowing that the result has no effect on their final position, in a busy fixture schedule and immediately after the league cup final, Lennon will see it as a great opportunity to rest key players and give those on the fringes some much needed game time.
