Celtic Reserves captain Regan Hendry will be released by the Hoops at the end of the season, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been a regular at youth level for a number of years but has failed to make a single senior appearance and the paper report he won’t be offered a new deal this summer, with his current contract set to expire.

He’s spent time out on loan at Raith Rovers over the past couple of seasons but this year’s move to the Scottish League One club was cut short by serious injury.

Competition for midfield places at Celtic is just far too fierce right now and if he hasn’t shown the kind of ability to make a breakthrough by now then it makes sense for him to move on and pursue a career at another club.

The Scottish Sun say Raith Rovers are keen on re-signing him, which could be a good move for the player if they gain promotion to the Championship.

Last summer he was linked with a move to Norwich City.
