Davie Provan baffles me.
He genuinely does. I don’t know how many times he has had a go at Celtic defender Carl Starfelt on The Go Radio Football Show.
It’s like he has some sort of axe to grind with him.
I have written many times on this blog that he is constantly harping on about him not being good enough when every Celtic fan knows he as having his best form in a Celtic jersey before he got injured.
Provan was at it again as he took to his national platform to have yet another dig at the big Swede after his performance in the cup final.
Whilst Starfelt didn’t have his best game, Provan’s criticism is way over the top for me, “Carl Starfelt at the weekend, and a lot of people have said to me, ‘Oh, you’re too hard on him give him time‘.
“Well, he’s had for five, six months. And I just don’t see it.
“And I’m not picking on the boy and I just don’t see it.
“If Celtic are serious about building a really good side for Postecoglou, they have to get a better quality of player in on what is a vital position in any team.
“I mean, when you look at the mistakes he made in the cup final that would terrify me.”
This is a guy that was constantly banging the drum for Celtic to play Leigh Griffiths and criticised the club for loaning him out. How did that work out?
He’s not Celtic class
Where would he be in a list of our best centre half’s/sweepers/back 2/3 whatever..
His main attribute is?
Sorry
poor buy
Perhaps its just that starfelt is very good. He’s in the same mould as boyata and simunovic. He always has a mistake waiting to happen, even if he is strolling a match.
i agree with provan,he is just not good enough,he makes mistakes in every game and gets away with it most times in the spl but not in europe.he is to slow and gets caught out of position to often.
Proven just opens his mouth and let’s his stomach churn out aload of crap.
