Celtic’s trip to Australia, despite the results, has been a relatively successful one.

With the club netting a few million quid for a couple of bounce games and the profile raised Down Under as well, the week-long trip has been well worth it the time and effort.

But as Celtic failed to win a single game in the exhibition, they do seem to have won a new fan after their performance against English Premier League side Everton.

Tweeting during the match, the Australian Governments Head of Relations and Sports, Sebastian Hassett, was in awe of Angeball and even though the great play didn’t get the result it deserved, the official still recognised the great football that was played by Celtic on the day.

Speaking on Twitter, Hassett said, “I wish Everton could learn to hold the ball and control the play like Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side. They’ve completely owned the game so far.

“Pass and move, fabulous to watch, for a fraction of the cost.

“Agree they’re playing well, but it’s all on the counter-attack.

“Which just isn’t good enough for Everton. All credit to Celtic and Postecoglou – looking vastly superior.

“Everton may win but it hasn’t been at the standard required.”

Like I said, money and profile raised for and by the club makes this trip extremely worthwhile and if we make new friends along the way then even better.
