Celtic have been linked with a move for Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

TeamTalk claim in an exclusive report that the Hoops are considering rivalling Rangers for the signature of the Northern Ireland international this week.

They say that Swansea City, Sheffield United and Hull City are all considering making a move for him too, with the trio able to sign him on loan until January and then on a permanent basis thereafter.

From our perspective it’s a fairly bizarre transfer link, especially in the wake of signing Australian international Daniel Arzani and the emergence of Mikey Johnston.

Both have the ability to play on the wings, supplementing players such as James Forrest and Scott Sinclair, who are both firmly established in Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

With Jonny Hayes also available, it definitely puts Jordan Jones up against it to make any sort of impact at Celtic Park.

Rated at £675,000 by Transfermarkt, there’s no doubting that Jones has been impressive for Killie over the last 12 months, proving to be one of their big creative forces under Steve Clarke.

However, he’s not a player we need and hopefully we stay clear over the next few days.
