Celtic midfielder Scott Brown faces up to ten weeks on the sidelines with a broken foot despite not requiring surgery.

The club announced last week that he would be out for around six weeks with a stress reaction in the third metatarsal of his right foot.

But a visit to a specialist has since decided he won’t need an operation and will instead undergo extra rehabilitation, which is likely to still keep him out for in excess of two months.

Celtic recently lost the services of fellow schemer Beram Kayal for several weeks with a hernia problem.
