BT Sport pundit makes incredible SPFL title claim

|

BT Sport pundit Martin Keown, made an incredible claim that Rangers are running away with the title but does concede that Celtic could now start to mount a challenge.

Speaking after Rangers topped their Europa League Group Keown made the admission even though Celtic still have twenty four games left to play, two games in hand over their rivals.

Admittedly, the challenge for Celtic does look tough with their rivals on form, scoring freely and defending resolutely but form like that rarely continues for a whole season and, after last nights result and performance against Lille with a second string squad, Celtic fans will be looking on more confidently to the run in now that they can see what players like Soro and Turnbull bring to the table.

The former Arsenal legend is known for some bizarre claims on Scottish football. Back in April 2020, Keown once claimed that “Celtic’s dominance is unfair”. Speaking on Talksport, Keown said, ” I know they get £20million a year when they get into the Champions League.  There’s a massive disparity actually with what happens in Scottish football, that’s why there’s so much trouble there at the moment. Celtic can’t fail to win the league with the amount of money they get, so it’s a bit unfair at the moment”

This coming from a player who plays in a league awash with cash where some of the richest clubs, not biggest, in the world reside. Convenient hypocrisy from the former England defender.

No doubt Keown is just lavishing praise on an old pal but let’s hope those words come back to haunt him come May.
