Celtic have been handed an injury setback involving defensive stalwart Jozo Simunovic with Neil Lennon confirming that he is going to have to go under the knife.

The defender has been out with a knee issue in recent weeks and it appears as though it is not sorting itself out on its own, so he’ll now have to have surgery.

Quoted by Celtic TV, Lennon revealed that he’s going to have an arthroscopy:

“Jozo’s in for surgery. He’s going to have a clean-out in the knee, an arthroscopy.”

It’s a blow for the player, then, especially when it’s around the knee and it remains to be seen for just how long he is going to be out of action.

Without doubt, though, it’s going to be a little while with the knee one of the most complex joints in the body.

We’re already short at centre-half as it is, though, so hopefully he’ll make a quick recovery from this knock and be back in contention.
