Celtic back in for Westwood

Coventry City goalkeeper Kieren Westwood is again a target for Celtic boss Neil Lennon after on Newcastle United custodian Fraser Forster’s future at Parkhead was cast into further doubt.

Westwood was previously chased by the Hoops during the last transfer window but Sky Blues manager Aidy Boothroyd rejected that approach. The 26-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is currently also being linked with Blackburn Rovers.

And while Celtic in theory have England youth international Forster until the end of the campaign, there is a special clause as part of that arrangement allowing his parent club to recall him back to Tyneside in January should the need arise.

Bhoys chief Lennon did already have an agreement with his opposite number at Newcastle Chris Hughton, who had said there was no likelihood of an early recall. But Hughton has since been sacked at St James’ Park and with former Southampton manager Alan Pardew the favourite to succeed him, that situation could change.
