Celtic could finalise deal for £4.5m-rated talent this week

|

Celtic are on the brink of making their first signing of the January transfer window, with forward Timothy Weah expected to return to Glasgow this week and finalise a loan move from Paris Saint-Germain, according to The Daily Record.

The paper reckon that Weah has already agreed to the switch, having had a tour of Lennoxtown last week, with the only hold up now being PSG giving the move the final green light.

The £4.5m-rated teenager is considered one of the brightest prospects around right now having already made six appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit at the age of 18, scoring twice.

However, given the talent available to the French side, he needs to find regular action elsewhere and PSG will likely look at the progress of former prospect Odsonne Edouard as proof Celtic have what it takes to develop the youngster.

Celtic badly need attacking options in support of Edouard, with the timetable of Leigh Griffiths’ return unknown. That leaves the Frenchman with quite the burden up front and another striker or two would really help our Scottish Premiership title defence.

Loans aren’t ideal, but in Weah there could be real talent that can truly shine in domestic action.
