After Celtic so brilliantly announced the transfer of Carl Starfelt, a report today has claimed that the Hoops have enquired about a “priority” signing AND a second target has also emerged that will help strengthen a clearly weak area of the first team.

George Baldock is high on the list of Ange Postecoglou’s priorities as he clearly feels that Anthony Ralston doesn’t seem to fit into his style of play.

Ralston was solid enough on Tuesday night but with Postecoglou’s mantra of quick one touch and high pressing football, it has exposed Ralston’s weaknesses and the big Aussie is seeking to bolster the right back position.

Baldock is an experienced right back and at 28 years old, has made 139 appearances for The Blades is high on Postecoglou’s list.

Celtic also have another right back in their sights with Derby County’s Nathan Byrne high on the list and according to the report an enquiry has already been made.

Byrne is a 29 year old stalwart with over 300 appearances for The Rams in the English League One and Championship and as he enters into the final year of his contract, the Hoops will be looking to capitalise on acquiring him at a reduced rate.

Byrne scored twelve goals and created 24 assists in his 184 appearances for Derby in and Ange clearly see’s his attacking prowess as key to fitting into his style of play at the Hoops.

No doubt these are exciting times for Celtic supporters as Postecoglou now seems to be executing his transfer plan swiftly in time for the new season.
