Boli Bolingoli has left Celtic to head to Turkey and few will be sad to see the back of a player who not only failed to live up to a £3million price tag, but also cost his side dearly with the irresponsible actions that led to games being postponed.

Speaking to Football Insider, Noel Whelan believes that Neil Lennon will be delighted to get rid of the Belgian in more ways than one.

So what has Whelan said?

When asked to reflect on Bolingoli’s departure from Parkhead, he said:

“It is massive.

“Neil Lennon will be absolutely overjoyed that the deal has got done and that he is out of the club now. That speculation can now disappear because his future is elsewhere. There is not going to be any grumblings or questions about him now that Neil has got him out of the club.

“You do not want people at the football club with that kind of attitude and Neil will want a nice harmonious dressing room and training ground and that is what he has got now. You want players that will abide by rules and be part of the squad in the right way.”

So is Whelan correct?

Absolutely, Lennon himself said that it would be difficult for the full-back to be accepted back into the dressing room following his actions and although he is just leaving on loan for a season, it would be a surprise if he ever pulls on a green and white shirt again.

Will Bolingoli ever play for Celtic again?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Not only will his move avoid any potential discord on the training field but there will also now be room on the wage bill to sign a replacement who, if anything, has the potential to improve the squad.

Bolingoli’s time at Celtic will inevitably be remembered for one thing and one thing only, that a swift resolution has been secured will leave the gaffer a very happy man indeed.
