Celtic have been linked with a move for Preston North End manager Alex Neil by The Birmingham Mail.

The paper say West Bromwich Albion have emerged as contenders to appoint the 37-year-old as their new manager following the departure of Darren Moore, but that Celtic are also interested in the services of the Championship boss.

Neil Lennon has been given the job at Celtic Park until the end of the season but a section of the support have concerns he might not be the prime candidate to lead the club forward into a nine-in-a-row push.

The opinion on Lennon will likely settle around whether the team can win a treble of trophies this season, but the reports surrounding Alex Neil are certainly interesting.

He’s doing a great job at Preston currently and until very recently they were amongst the front runners to make the promotion playoffs in the division.

Having previously guided Norwich City to the Premier League and done a fantastic job with Hamilton in Scotland, he is one of the outstanding realistic candidates who could take charge at Celtic Park.

Peter Lawwell, Dermot Desmond and the rest of the board at the club have a massive decision to make this summer and it’s one they must get right.

Would you be interested in appointing Alex Neil as Celtic manager? Have your say in the comments below…

  • What planet are you guys on? – There is as much chance of that happening as Ally McCoist being offered the job!

  • Not Lennon, Moyes, Neil or any has been premiership manager
Marco Rose for bull totally outclassed us with brilliant football.he does not bring the baggage that Lennon attracts. Even the treble treble should stake the claim for Lennon

  • There is no chance this guy is even in the thoughts of anyone at CP. I just hope it is the same for Lenny. Lenny has stepped in and fair play to him but he is not the future. I am worried that Moyes may be in with a shout. The guy Rose is a dream he will go to a top Bundesliga club. Lawwell needs to be a bit more imaginative. Appointing Lennon would put 9 in a row in jeopardy. A clever football brain is required, the ability to entertain. Forget about emotion.
