Lennon puts Nicholas back in his box “he doesn’t speak for me” after bizarre Laxalt claims

Neil Lennon has hit back at Charlie Nicholas after the former Celtic striker claimed that the gaffer would be unhappy at how he has been backed in the transfer window.

The Daily Record reported on his press conference in which he slammed “Celtic minded” individuals for criticising the club during such an unprecedented period of success, claiming that some are never happy:

“If we had signed Messi and Ronaldo, Charlie still would have found fault with it.

“He’s been negative about the club for years.

“We switch off to it. I’m not aware of it. I woke up this morning absolutely delighted with a squad of players that we got and certainly with the Laxalt signing.

“We’ve come out of the window very strong. People can throw stones at the club, there’s no merit, there’s no foundation, there’s no substance to it.

“So, Charlie doesn’t speak for me, he doesn’t think for me, and to be honest with you, it doesn’t resonate one bit here.

“There’s too many ex-Celtic players over the years who have constantly been trying to create this negative narrative around the club.

“We are absolutely flying. We’re winning all our games and we’ve won 11 trophies in a row.

“We’re not selling anyone. Normally over the years, we sold (Moussa) Dembele, (Kieran) Tierney and other players but in this window we kept them all.

“That’s credit to the board, it shows how strong we are at the minute.”

Lennon’s priority this transfer window was always to keep his key players, and he has done exactly that, not only has he managed to achieve his top priority but the new arrivals are all established internationals except for David Turnbull, who is one of – if not the – brightest prospect in Scotland.

Should Nicholas be allowed back in Celtic Park?

Yes

Yes

No

No

The gaffer is right here, Nicholas especially makes a living out of having a go at anything to do with Celtic, that he had the audacity to single out Odsonne Edouard because of the way he celebrated his goals last season shows the depths he will go to and he is best ignored – today’s nonsense is tomorrow’s chip paper after all.
