Celtic continue to look for additional resources that can supplement their forward line and the latest name to be linked is that of Lukas Nmecha, with the Germany Under-21 international being linked by The Daily Mail.

Celtic have enjoyed particular success through Manchester City’s academy and the 21-year old has yet to make a competitive debut for Pep Guardiola’s side, however, given the impact made by the likes of Jeremie Frimpong, Olivier Ntcham, Patrick Roberts and Dedryck Boyata, this is no indication of potential ability.

Nmecha spent the second half of last season on loan at Middlesborough and made 11 appearances for Neil Warnock’s side as they avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth.

He is very much in the mould of the modern attacker, capable of playing anywhere across the front three which would provide Neil Lennon with further flexibility as he flirts between his two preferred formations.

Celtic have been linked with a host of strikers recently and The Daily Record has reported on Sebastian Andersson‘s cut-price transfer clause which expires in the coming days with a fee of £4million all it would take to secure the Swedish international’s signature, as an established Bundesliga goal scorer this would be something of a bargain compared to the inflated fee being demanded by Peterborough United for Ivan Toney.

Nmecha may be inexperienced and relatively untested but with Steven Fletcher also said to be on Lennon’s potential list of names, it would a strange move not to stick with a transfer strategy that has proven to be so successful in the past.
