Neil Lennon has offered us some encouragement in the chase for John McGinn.

The midfielder is a wanted man this summer with him nearing the end of his current contract with the Easter Road side.

Indeed, according to the Sun, Derby are the latest side interested in bringing him in with the Bhoys also still credited with an interest in him.

Certainly, it’s going to be some battle and it looks as though Neil Lennon knows that it’s quite possible he could move on from the club.

As quoted by the Edinburgh News, he admitted:

“We would like to keep John – but it’s going to be difficult.

“He is a huge asset. He’s the heartbeat of the team. He and Dylan (McGeouch) will leave big boots to fill – but that’s the nature of the job at a club like Hibs. Players come and if they do well they move on.”

The Verdict

We’ve got a chance, then, and I hope that we’re going to take it.

The Bhoys perhaps don’t desperately need him this summer but I’d like to bring him in.

He might not play every game and has things to learn but working under Brendan and with Scott Brown would make him a very strong midfielder indeed.
