Celtic can now properly focus on retaining their SPL title according to striker Georgios Samaras.

“We are going to have more rest between games and it’s a good time to start winning games” – Georgios Samaras

The champions have to date proved somewhat inconsistent in the league this time around while experiencing their worst start to a campaign in fourteen years, despite still currently leading the table by a point and with a game in hand on their closest rivals.

But having confirmed their progression into the knockout stages of the Champions League in midweek, Greek international Samaras says they can now fully turn their attentions towards domestic matters.

“It’s not been easy, not only for us but all the teams playing in the Champions League,” he admitted to BBC Scotland. “Hopefully, now we will be more focused on the SPL.

“We know going from Champions League to Scottish Premier League, the games weren’t the best,” Samaras continued. “We need to change it and be more focused. We are going to have more rest between games and it’s a good time to start winning games in the SPL.”
