Celtic have turned down an improved offer from Norwich City for striker Gary Hooper.

“We’ve had an improved offer and that’s been turned down automatically” – Neil Lennon

The Canaries were unsuccessful with a £5m bid only last week and came back in with an increased amount for the 24-year-old marksman who increased his personal tally for the season to 22 goals with a double against Dundee United on Tuesday evening.

“We’ve had an improved offer, if you want to call it an improved offer, from Norwich and that’s been turned down automatically,” manager Neil Lennon revealed to BBC Scotland. “It wasn’t much more than the original offer. It was nowhere near £6m.

“It was completely rejected and even if it was £6m it would be completely rejected,” he added.

Hooper had a new contract offer made to him by the Scottish champions around three months ago and still has eighteen months remaining on his present deal.
