Celtic have signed teenage striker Tony Watt from Airdrie United on a three-year contract.
“It`s the team I support and this is where I want to be” – Celtic’s latest signing, Tony Watt
The seventeen-year-old forward has scored three times in fifteen appearances for Airdrie this season, and previously featured for Celtic during a recent youth game against Liverpool.
“It`s the team I support and this is where I want to be,” Watt told Celtic’s official website. “It`s big weight off my shoulders. I`d been hoping to have it confirmed for a few weeks now and I`m just delighted to have signed.
“We played on the Saturday against Stenhousemuir,” he added, “and the gaffer [Jimmy Boyle] spoke to me after the game and said Celtic were interested in me, and that they wanted me to play in a game at Celtic Park against Liverpool the following Tuesday, and I think I did okay.
“It was a massive boost to actually play on the park where I`d been coming to watch for a few years, and it was a brilliant experience, even being in the hanging-room where you know the first-team get ready before every game.”
